Analysis Paralysis July 23 2015, 0 Comments

Paralyzed by indecision on next year's vacation, thinking I'll eventually just spin this globe and see what happens. The globe was graciously coasterbombed by some skyline themed Flox.

Wino Wednesday July 22 2015, 0 Comments

Humpday outdoor wine party. Except this was taken on a Tuesday and we're probably going to have this wine part all over again tonight. Because we can't just ignore Wednesday... or wine.

How To Behave July 21 2015, 0 Comments

I coaster-bombed this bookshelf and later realized that it has not one, but TWO books titled 'How To Behave.' As I sneakily packed up my coasters and ran out of that space, I got to thinking that the book would probably tell me not to coaster bomb random people's things without asking first. Which is why i'll never read it. Twice.

Power Tables July 14 2015, 0 Comments

Workspace for the day. Feeling very powerful with this giant table in front of me. I totally get why the old men in movies always have giant oversized desks now. The laptop really killed that feeling for our generation.

Fluffy Chairs and Deep Thoughts July 08 2015, 0 Comments

I can't even look at this picture without wanting to take a nap. Then again I can't ever really be awake without wanting to take a nap. Deep thoughts - why aren't all chairs this fluffy? Deeper thoughts, why do I like napping during the day so much better than going to bed at night?

Fun with Livestock July 07 2015, 0 Comments

I tried to coaster-bomb this funny faced llama and after about 30 tries I just gave up. So instead of a picture of a llama with coasters on him, here's a picture of a llama with me trying to put coasters on him. Either way he's extremely funny faced and I hope my photo truly captured that.

ABC. Always Be Crushing. July 06 2015, 0 Comments

Sometimes when I wake up on a crappy Monday I look myself in the mirror, clap my hands three times and yell ALWAYS BE CRUSHING. It almost never works but once in a while I get a tiny burst of energy equivalent to 1/20th of a cup of coffee.

Tire Recycling, A Brief History April 22 2015, 1 Comment

Dear EarthDaylings,

We're taking the day to remind everyone that tire recycling wasn't something that was done on a large scale until recently. In 1990 there were over a billion tires laying in stockpiles across the US which serve as high health and environmental hazards. Since then, significant state-funded cleanup efforts funded by a tire tax, were instated that recycled or cleaned up 90% of these tires by 2013. To date, only two states still have more than 10 million tires in stockpiles, Texas and Colorado.

In the past decade, there's been an renaissance of products made from recycled tires. Scientists and entrepreneurs have figured out how to turn this durable material into fuel, asphalt, playground mulch, house and gymnasium flooring, and of course, Flox Coasters.

It just goes to show what problems can actually be fixed when we're all watching and talking about it. Let's continue the conversation and find more ways to recycle products before they become a problem.

Thank you for helping us create our own little aftermarket for tire recycling. Flox was launched in 2013 and has been able to recycle over 3,000 truck tires to date into urban-chic little coasters.

Cheers to Earth Day!

Earth Day 2015 April 21 2015, 0 Comments

Cortado Recipe March 01 2015, 0 Comments

My favorite barista turned me on to the charms of the Cortado. Made with a high quality espresso and milk, and partnered with sparkling water and espresso bean, this sophisticated beverage gives me the right amount of jolt to get through the afternoon.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Pour the milk into a stainless steel pitcher. Place the pitcher under the steam wand, with the wand touching the bottom of the pitcher. Turn the steam wand on, and move it so that it is just below the surface of the milk. Heat until it is steamed, but not foamy. Meanwhile, prepare your espresso and pour into the glass. Added the steamed milk to taste (between 1 and 2 oz.) Serve drink with sparkling water and an espresso bean for maximum effect. Buon Appetito!

Respect Your Wood February 09 2015, 0 Comments

A friendly reminder of what can happen when one does not respect wood. For those of you who do not know, this meme is in reference to the biggest coaster scandal in history (#coastergate)- as hilariously thought up on Curb Your Enthusiasm (which we have no rights to at all, but we love it so much we had to make the meme). Respect your wood and insure yourself against water-ring humiliation by buying Flox Coasters for $15.00. Made from 100% recycled rubber in the USA.

Tips for Protecting a Wood Tabletop December 01 2014, 0 Comments

I mean, COASTERS! Obviously. It's much easier to prevent a liquid stain on natural wood rather than try to get it out, but I get it... we're not all perfect and some of us haven't purchased our Flox Coasters yet (shameless plug - buy them here for $15!).  Here are some tips that'll help your table looking like a spry piece of freshly polished wood:

Tips for protecting a wood tabletop. Obviously, having fabulous Flox Coasters placed all around your house makes it much less likely that you'll have to ever deal with a water stain. But for those of you who haven't purchased yet, here are some tips that'll help your table looking like a spry piece of freshly polished wood. #coasters

-Dust Often: regular build up of dust can eventually scratch and make your table less than shiny

-Remove Watermark Rings Gently: chances are watermark rings are ingrained into the wax, not the wood.  Try putting mayonnaise on a soft cloth to rub it out (this is weird but it works!).

-Place Strategically: Don't place your table near a radiator or other heat source which can eventually cause warping and/or splitting.

-Have Flox Coasters handy around your house ... an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Pictured above are the Flox 'Numeros' Coasters which come in a set of 4 and are made from 100% recycled rubber in the USA.
